It is my pleasure to welcome you to the official website of the International Alliance for Invitational Education® (IAIE). As the Executive Director, I invite you to browse through our website and discover who we are, what we are about, and why we would love to have you join and become an active member of the Alliance.
IAIE is a not-for-profit, charitable association; identified by the Internal Revenue Service as a 501c(3), tax exempt organization. The Alliance is made up of educators, health-care associates, counselors and other helping professionals whose common interest is in developing and promoting the theory and practice of Invitational Education® (I.E.) This approach consists of a unique set of principles, levels of functioning and communicating and other distinct concepts to assist individuals, organizations, and institutions create positive relationships in their professional and personal lives.
Invitational Education® is founded on concepts and research primarily from two schools of thought: self-concept theory and perceptual psychology. Information on this website offers a wealth of insight into I.E., it foundation and philosophy. Throughout this website, you will find books, DVDs and other related materials about Invitational Education® available through the IAIE Clearinghouse.
The International Alliance for Invitational Education® sponsors workshops and conferences around the world as our organization continues to expand around the world. Our World Conference is conducted in the fall every year. Membership is very reasonable as we have individual, "Senior Active", and institutional members throughout the world. Although based in the United States, we also have an International Centre located in Hong Kong. The growth of IE in Hong Kong and throughout China continues under the leadership of Dr. Peter Wong, Mrs. Clio Chan and their colleagues at the Hong Kong IE Centre. IAIE membership has spread to many countries including Australia, Canada, Great Britain, Hungary, Ireland, Nepal, Singapore, South Africa and Thai land.
The Mission Statement of IAIE is… "Based on democratic principles, the International Alliance for Invitational Education® cultivates the personal and professional growth of educators and allied professionals, enriches the lives of human beings personally and professionally, and promotes positive change in organizations."
The Mission Statement allows our organization to constantly reflect on our Vision for the future of the Alliance in that… "IAIE will be a globally renowned professional organization dedicated to the realization of human potential."
Featured keynotes scheduled for this year's conference will be Dr. Betty Siegel and Dr. William Purkey, co-founders of IAIE; Dr. Peter Wong, Chief Curriculum Development Officer in the Education Bureau of Hong Kong; Kelly Middleton, Associate Superintendent of Mason County, Kentucky Schools; Dr. Sally Butzin, creator of the Project CHILD instructional system; Rebekah Carpenter, motivational speaker, author and playwrite; and Dr. Roger Cleveland, Assistant Professor at Eastern Kentucky University.
